Binge-watched the whole of Toxic Town on Netflix last night - a UK drama based on the real life story of the town of Corby and the first court case in the world to reveal a link between atmospheric toxic waste and birth defects.
It made me think that where I used to live in #Manchester there was a massive area of land in my neighbourhood that was rumoured to be a old landfill site. We used to play on it regularly and there were pipes that stuck out the ground that looked like they emitted gas.
I always wondered about what it was, but then after binge-watching this show did a little research online and found one post about it where a resident asks for information under the Freedom of Information Act.

He had done some research himself and found out that a local university used it to dump radioactive materials. As questioned by Winston Churchill (the grandson of the popular one)
I mean, I'm no expert about HOW TO DISPOSE OF RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS and maybe it was done safely...
...but interesting to know that it's just all buried down there since the 1970s and we used to play on top of that land as a kid (I was born in the 80s).
